Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation
Improving Quality of Life
CHW Foundation is a charity run through the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW). Their goal is to help sick children by funding research and quality of life for their patients. One way to do this was to help design a way to drive leads through their website.
Originally, CHW Foundation existed as part of a page on the CHW website. We determined that their content was too difficult to find as it was several layers deep on the main hospital site. The templates were also very difficult for their team to work with to create the pages they needed. Additionally, navigating the site was very difficult as the navigation changed based on the page you were on.
Because the information was buried on the main site, we recommended separating out their content into their own standalone website. We sifted through their analytics and determined different audience types and the most common ways to give. We also performed a competitive analysis, breaking down the various ways other websites doing the same thing were successful or not very successful.
We made recommendations on which types of content should exist and how it should be structured to appeal to their audiences. We then wireframed each unique component and laid them on on the various pages we recommended. We streamlined the navigation and made it consistent from page to page to make it easier to use and emphasized the calls-to-action to encourage more clicks. We also laid out the site in such a way that it would tell a story to the user instead of immediately asking the user to donate, but still provided a means to do so if the user was already ready.
